A Little About Myself

I have been working in the Information Security industry since Y2K - coming up on 2 decades. Originally from California, I have lived and travelled all over the world.  I currently reside in Salt Lake City, UT and plan on being here forever.  I love the mountains for skiing, rock climbing, and hiking.  The camping in Utah is unbeatable, I'm going to spend the rest of my life exploring southern Utah with my family!

Work History

Cisco (2016 - Present) - Information Security Architect
One of the original members of the Cisco Cryptography Services team, now designing/building/supporting signing services, secure boot solutions, and hardware trust anchors.
Cisco (2000 - 2016) - Information Security Engineer
Started on the Incident Response team, primarily responsible for the IDS systems.  Took over support for the AAA systems, providing authentication for all ingress.  Moved to the PKI team in 2006, supporting/building all things crypto.

Sunpower solar hacking

I got solar panels in December of 2016 and was anxious to nerd out a bit on the data.  I found the portal that comes with the SunPower panels I chose to be a little lacking in detail.  For example, I could not see what an individual panel was doing.  So, I hacked it.  Here's the full story of how I did it.

LGK 2.2 Center channel speaker build

I got this kit from GR Research.  I had never built a crossover before, so this was a new experience in my DIY home audio journey.  It turned out great!  Here's the writeup of my experience.

B&W 801 S80 Restoration

I scored these off KSL Classifieds (local goods exchange here in UT) for a steal as I managed to message the seller first. There was nothing really wrong with the speakers, they sounded great! However, I knew they were ~40 years old (confirmed after I got inside them, these were built in 1983) and the caps at least probably needed replacing. I found crossoverchef.com selling rebuilt crossovers on ebay (example listing) and figured that was better than attempting things myself. Honesty, the PCB intimidated me and I wanted to break out the High Frequency (HF) and Low Frequency (LF) so I could bi-amp the speakers. This page documents my journey in restoring these beautiful speakers and making them better!

Nevada 2005

I used to take an annual trip to Nevada to explore ghost towns and old mines with a couple friends - Thomas Hargrove and Dante Fontana.  This is the writeup from one of those trips.
